James Hayner Field
Play hard, play safe at Whitman’s soccer & lacrosse field
James Hayner Field is a state-of-the-art synthetic open field that serves as the home of the Whitman soccer and lacrosse teams, as well as various club and intramural sports. Surrounded by beautiful, rustic trees, this facility was dedicated in the fall of 2023, thanks to gifts from Whitman College supporters. The facility is designed for year-round use, with FieldTurf CORE, the only FIFA-approved artificial turf, which minimizes the risk of injury. This advanced design allows athletes to focus solely on their performance, leaving them free to compete and win.

The field was named for longtime Whitman Trustee and Walla Walla community leader James K. Hayner.
