Floyd Bunt, Jr. was inducted as a coach for the Whitman soccer programs. He worked in the Office of Student Affairs at Whitman College and later as Director of Housing and Food Services. He became the first coach of any competitive Whitman soccer team when he started coaching the year-old Whitman Soccer Club in 1969, guiding it to full varsity status by 1973 and establishing Whitman as the Northwest’s first intercollegiate soccer program east of the Cascades. He also led development of the first women's varsity soccer program in the state of Washington, which played its first intercollegiate season in 1977. As of his induction, Coach Bunt is the winningest men's soccer coach (combined club and varsity) in Whitman history and has the second-most wins as an intercollegiate sport. He coached at Whitman for 13 years, 1969-1981, while serving as President of the Northwest Intercollegiate Soccer League from 1972 to 1978. His teams won four Northwest Conference titles and posted an overall record of 106 wins, 67 losses and 26 ties, a winning percentage of .613 and an average of over eight wins per season.
