Box Score TACOMA, Wash. – The Whitman women's soccer team lost their second-straight 1-0 decision this afternoon as Pacific Lutheran scored in the second minute of the match and, then, held on to win the Northwest Conference matchup in Tacoma this afternoon.
The Lutes improve to 3-0-3 in conference and 5-2-3 overall; the Missionaries are now 3-5 and 7-5.
With 1:10 burned off the opening game clock, Mariah Rasmussen knocked in a corner kick that was sent into the box by Blake Warner.
Rasmussen placed the ball past the left-side of goalie
Emily Davis (Sr., Eagle River, AK). It was the only shot on-goal the Lutes would fire all afternoon.
Whitman had 4 shots on target and 10 in all. The Lutes managed 5 shots in a match that was primarily a defensive battle.
The Missionaries applied pressure in the second half with shots on-goal by
Elise Lauren (Fy., Seattle, WA),
Jade Anderson (Jr., Claremont, CA) and
Mackenzie Hughes (Sr., Woodinville, WA) but each time PLU goalkeeper Takara Mitsui made the save.
