WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Whitman College women's soccer team concluded their weekend play Sunday afternoon against the College of Idaho at the Whitman Athletic Fields. The Whits came out on the short end of a 3-0 final as the Yotes used a strong second half to pull away.

The first half was a tight battle; both teams played well on the defensive side of the ball, but were unable to gain any momentum offensively. The College of Idaho (3-1) accrued just six shots while Whitman (0-4) took four and the teams combined for just three shots on goal as the game entered the half tied 0-0.

Coming out of the break, the Whits gave up a quick goal just 1:33 into the half. Over the next 25 minutes, Whitman had opportunities to even the score, but was unable to find the net. In the 74th minute a goal by College of Idaho's Maddie Brown put the Yotes up two; six minutes later another goal skipped past Whit goalkeeper Hailey Case as the College of Idaho capitalized on their chances.

In the matter of six minutes things dropped from hopeful to difficult for the Whits who found themselves down three with just nine minutes to play. While Whitman was unable to come back, the team played a good game,
Linnea Soo and
Pagan Hetherington combined to take three shots on goal and
Sofia Ellington accumulated three shots throughout the contest.

The Whits are back on the road next weekend to open up conference play. Whitman travels to Tacoma to take on the University of Puget Sound on Saturday and Pacific Lutheran University on Sunday.
