WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Whitman College men's soccer suffered its first Northwest Conference loss of the season Sunday afternoon at the Whitman Athletic Fields against Willamette University. The Whits were unable to slow the Bearcats' offense as Willamette ran off with a 3-0 win.
Whitman (4-4, 1-1 NWC) had opportunities throughout, collecting 18 shots in the match and controlled the ball for a good portion of the afternoon. The Whits accumulated five shots on goal throughout the game, but the Willamette (3-2, 1-1 NWC) goalkeeper kept Whitman off the board.
The first goal came on a Bearcat penalty kick in the 36th minute, Willamette sent the PK to the left of the net as Whitman goalkeeper
Owen Davis-Bower dove right. The Bearcats tallied another mark in the 43rd minute and entered the break with a 2-0 lead.
After the half, Whitman was unable to capitalize on shots as Willamette used another goal to put the game away late.

David Chavarin all took shots on goal during Sunday's contest, but all came up empty handed. Of the five Bearcat shots on goal, Davis-Bower grabbed two saves, but was unable to stop the Willamette attack.
Whitman is on the road next weekend for games against Pacific Lutheran University and the University of Puget Sound on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
