Women's Soccer Falls At George Fox In Season Finale

NEWBERG, Ore. - The Whitman College women's soccer team closed the season in heart-breaking fashion, surrendering the game's lone goal and gamewinner in the 90th minute in a 1-0 loss at George Fox Sunday afternoon at the Austin Sports Complex.

Despite being dominated much of the match, the Blues appeared to be push the game into overtime, but a Bruin goal with just 14 seconds up on the clock essentially ended the game. Chloe Shumaker pounced on a deflection off Elly Wolfe in goal and netted the gamewinner.

Wolfe made seven saves for the Blues and dealt with 27 George Fox shots, nine on net. Three keepers saw action for the Bruins with Annalisa Klein playing the second half to earn the win while logging one save.

Whitman closes the season at 4-13-2 overall and 4-10-1 in the Northwest Conference. George Fox finishes with a 6-9-2 record and 4-9-2 in league play.
