Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Tops Pacific On Senior Day

zWALLA WALLA, Wash. Pagan Hetherington scored a pair of goals, Allie Seracuse came up big in goal in the second half and the Whitman College women's soccer team delivered a 2-0 win against Pacific (Ore.) on Senior Day, Saturday in Northwest Conference action at the Whitman Athletic Complex.

Hetherington shined in her final home game, scoring both goals within 10 minutes of each other in the first half. After a couple of great scoring opportunities early, Hetherington's work finally paid off with her goal in the 35th minute. In similar fashion to her first attempt, Hetherington received a ball from Quinne Woolley behind the Boxer defense, this time finishing past an onrushing Saya Brown in net for the Boxers (3-13-1, 1-12-1 NWC).

As the half was winding down, Tate Kautzky was dragged down in the box to earn the Blues (4-13, 4-9 NWC) a penalty kick with 44 seconds to play. Hetherington stepped up to take the spot kick, cooly scoring low and to the far post.

The second half saw much of the possession belong to the Boxers. After spelling Bryanna Schreiber in net for the Blues, Seracuse dealt with a handful of dangerous goal-scoring opportunities but, like Schreiber in the first half, was able to keep a clean sheet.

Both Schreiber and Seracuse combined for four saves with Brown recording one save for Pacific while giving up the two Whitman goals.

Prior to the game, Whitman honored seniors Seracuse, Schreiber, Hetherington, Kautsky, Sophie Brussell, Emily Rigsby, Sofia Ellington, Jessie Mano and Kenzie Tierney.

The Blues close the season on the road next weekend with matches against Lewis & Clark (Nov. 9) and Willamette (Nov. 10). Kickoff for both games is set for 11:00 a.m.
