Box Score WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Looking to make a statement in its home opener, the Whitman College men's soccer team came up just short in a 1-0 loss to Corban University on Saturday at the Whitman Athletic Fields.

The loss snaps a three-game win streak for the Blues (3-3) who outshot the Warriors 10-5 and had several excellent scoring chances inside the final 10 minutes. Oscar Harding and Jacob Barsher both had good looks at goal but couldn't find the frame.

Matt Reich made three saves in goal for the Blues with Nic Farr posting three saves of his own for the Warriors in notching the shutout.

The lone goal of the match came in the 24th minute. Corban gained possession at midfield then attacked down the left flank. After a cross was made into the penalty area, Kohl Hurtado pounced on to a loose ball and slotted the shot underneath Reich.

Reich was solid in net the rest of the way, but his teammates could not find the back of the net as Corban walked away with the win.

The Blues return to the pitch on Sunday for their Alumni Game scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
