WALLA WALLA, Wash.
- After winning its second straight Northwest Conference Tournament with back-to-back road wins, the Whitman College men's basketball team now sets its sights on a matchup with the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the first round of the 2020 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament.

The Blues and Blugolds will play for the right to take on host school Saint John's (MN) who faces Ripon College in the other sectional matchup.

Wisconsin-Eau Claire (19-9) lost in the championship game of the WIAC Tournament to UW-Oshkosh but earned a spot in the NCAA Field of 64 as one of the tournament's 20 at-large selections.

Whitman (20-7) enters the tournament riding a huge wave of confidence. After leading the Northwest Conference for most of the season, the Blues slipped to the No. 3 seed and needed to go on the road for the league's postseason tournament. Whitman stormed past regular season co-champions Linfield and Whitworth on its way to a NWC Tournament title and the league's automatic qualifier.

Darne Duckett delivered a stellar showing during the tournament. He dropped 25 points against Linfield in the semifinal then put the Blues on his back and turned in a career-high 31 points at rival Whitworth to capture the NWC Tourney crown.

Joining Duckett are seniors Andrew Vickers and Jaron Kirkley who were named first and second team all-conference, respectively and honorable mention selections Robert Colton and Trevor Osborne.
