Men's Soccer Falls From the Ranks of the Unbeaten

TACOMA, Wash. - The Whitman College men's soccer team had hoped to build on its undefeated league record but came up short in a 3-1 loss at the University of Puget Sound in Northwest Conference action, Saturday at Baker Stadium.

UPS opened the scoring in the 16th minute when Gabriel Faro-Wright scored on a header off a service from Graham Hall.

The Blues (4-4-1, 1-1-1 NWC) did find an equalizer in the 27th minute to get back into the game. Oliver Dickson found the back of the net past Logger keeper Ryan Saunders to tie the game at 1-1.

The game appeared to be headed to halftime deadlocked at 1-1, but UPS scored to give itself the lead at the break. Just a little over one minute remaining, Diego Alvaro and Etienne Polak worked a combination which led to a goal from Liam Elliott. 

UPS added another late in the game to put the match away.

Colby Ramsey played the full 90 minutes in net for the Blues and logged one save. Saunders dealt with a handful of Whitman opportunities and made seven saves on the day.

The Blues next square off against Pacific Lutheran on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 2:30 p.m.
