Masters Swim Team Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long is a session of Masters swimming
A: One session has a total of about 35 workouts. However, practice length varies depending on pool availability. Typically, M/W/F practices are about an hour and Saturday practices are 1:15.

Q: I haven’t swam in a while. Will I be able to keep up with workouts?
A: Yes! (Though you should have some swimming background). Workouts are designed to accommodate various levels of swimming skill, fitness levels, and competitiveness. There will be options for different workouts or modifications at each practice.

Q: What happens if I miss a practice or need to leave early?
A: No worries! You can swim as much or as little as your schedule allows both in terms of how many practices you attend and how long you stay at each. Regardless of how many practices you attend, you still must pay the fee for the entire session.

Q: What does a typical practice look like?
A: Doors will open 10 minutes prior to the start of practice time and will close at the beginning of the workout. Once inside, locker rooms are available for your use. We will try to create lanes with similar speed/skill levels. We will start with a warm-up and then get into our workout for the day. While you are swimming, we will always have a coach on deck to help give feedback on technique, guide you through the workout, and work towards your personal goals throughout the season. At the conclusion of practice, you are welcome to use the locker room again to change, shower, and freshen up for the day.
