Whitman Tournament Central | NCAA Bracket

WALLA WALLA, Wash.
- With a Northwest Conference regular season and tournament title, the Whitman College women's basketball team's stellar season continues into the postseason with a trip to Chicago, Ill. for the opening two rounds of the NCAA Tournament. The Blues (21-5) open the tournament against the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (20-8) this Friday, March 3 at 5:30 p.m. CT (3:30 p.m. PT).

The other half of the pod will feature the University of Chicago hosting Northwestern-St. Paul. The winners of each respective matchup will face each other on Saturday night with a spot in the NCAA Tournament "Sweet 16" on the line.

The Blues enter the matchup as one of the hottest teams in the tournament. Whitman, winners of 13 straight games, lost only twice during NWC play en route to a co-regular season title and its second straight NWC Tournament title. Leading the Whitman charge are all-conference selections Korin Baker (1st), Elena McHargue (1st), and Carly Martin (2nd). Baker was also recently voted NWC Player of the Year and head coach Michelle Ferenz Coach of the Year.

The Blugolds are making their 18th trip to the NCAA Tournament after receiving one of the tournament's at-large bids. The Blugolds reached the finals of the WIAC Tournament last weekend, where they finished as conference runner-up. They enter the NCAA Tournament having won four of their last six contests.
