Swimming Splits With Linfield In Home Opener

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Whitman College swimming teams graced the waters of Harvey Pool for the first time this season, hosting Linfield for their home opener in Northwest Conference action on Friday night. The women's team came out on top 109.5-94.5 but the men's squad fell to the Wildcats 112-93.

Josephine Piel stole the show in the women's competition with three individual victories. She won both the 200 free (2:01.01) and 100 free (55.82) as well as the 100 breaststroke (1:10.12). Anneliese Hanson had a solid meet as well, placing second behind Piel in both freestyle events.

The Blues won four total events with the other coming via Shaye Agnew's victory in the 50 free (25.42).

The Blues won four events on the men's side as well but came up on the short end of the stick. Keenan Tiddle claimed two of those wins, first topping the field in the 500 free (22.18), then teaming up with Ian McClelland, Adrian Dulong and Andrew Kim to win the 200 free relay (1:29.40) to close the meet.

The Blues compete in their final home event of 2024 when they host Willamette on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
