Swimming Sweeps Lewis & Clark

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Whitman College swimming teams kept it rolling against Lewis & Clark, both dominating the Pioneers in a pair of Northwest Conference wins on Saturday at Harvey Pool. The men's team won 152-53 with the women's teaming topping Lewis & Clark 145-51.

The men's squad opened and closed the meet with relay wins, first with the 200 medley relay (1:38.52) then later the 200 free relay (1:32.87). Adrian Dulong and John Leeds led the charge, both with a trio of top finishes. Dulong topped the field in the 400 IM (4:31.11) then later won the 500 free (4:59.61). He closed the meet as a member of the 200 free relay winning team which included Collen Lokan, Andrew Tate and Andrew Kim.

Leeds joined Brodie Salzbrener, Ian McClelland and Keenan Tiddle with a meet-opening win in the 200 free relay. He later took top honors in the 200 free (1:46.64) and 100 breaststroke (1:00.36).

The women's team also won both their relay races with four swimmers winning a trio of races. Frances Lenz, in addition to her 200 medley relay win, took top honors in the 1650 free (19:59.37) and 500 free (5:46.34). Annaliese Hanson topped the field in the 200 free (2:03.27) and 100 free (57.65) before joining Cassidy Monroe, Avery Riley, and Josepine Piel for a win in the 200 free relay.

Before finishing the meet with her 200 free relay win, Riley won the 400 IM (4:53.75) and 100 fly (1:00.58). Piel was a member of both relay winning teams while also besting the field in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.24).

Whitman competes in its road finale next Saturday, Jan. 25 with a visit to George Fox. Meet time is set for 11:00 a.m.
