Swimming Splits On Final Dual Meet of 2025

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Whitman College swimming teams made a splash in their home opener and final dual meet of 2025 at Harvey Pool, splitting results against George Fox in Northwest Conference action on Saturday. The men's team dominated George Fox, winning 146-56, while the women's squad fell just short in a thrilling contest, 106-98.

The men's team displayed depth and speed, taking first place in numerous events including both relays and key individual swims. Standouts included Brodie Salzbrener, who took titles in both the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle, and Finn Stukerjurgen, who won the 200 backstroke and contributed to the victorious 400 medley relay effort. The team also swept the top three spots in the 200 IM and 400 free relay.

Whitman swept sprint events, with Ian McClelland and Kyle Milburn going 1-2 in the 50 freestyle, while Elliot Yung and Brodie Salzbrener dominated the 100 free.

The women's competition came down to the wire. Anneliese Hanson and Elly Rectenwald led the way for the Blues with wins in the 200 free and strong relay performances. The final score remained close thanks to consistent top-three finishes and a late push in the relays, but George Fox edged ahead, propelled by Gabbie Patti's double wins in the 200 IM and 200 back.

Siena Hayes and Ella Tyroler kept the women's distance races competitive, claiming second and third in the 1000 free. The women's 400 free relay closed the meet in exciting fashion, with the Blues out-touching George Fox for relay honors.

The Blues will be off from dual meet competition until January and will close 2025 next week at the Vandal Invitational which runs from Nov. 21-23.
