Men's Soccer Sweeps Major NWC Awards, 12 Total Honored

HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Whitman College men's soccer team landed a historic mark on the Northwest All-Conference Men's Soccer Team, announced on Tuesday by the league office. In total, a record 12 Blues earned all-league honors.

The Blues swept all major awards which included Lucas McAllister (Offensive Player of the Year), Adrian Valencia (Defensive Player of the Year), Remy Marcks (Rookie of the Year) and Jose Cedeno (Coach of the Year.

The rookie of the year award was the second straight for the Blues (Kevin Serrano), who this season won their first outright conference title since 1981 and played in their first NCAA Tournament. Cedeno garnered coach of the year honors for the first time as well.

Also garnering all league honors were Pablo Gonzalez, Jr. (second team), Alexander Perez Hernandez (second team), Riki Kobayashi (second team), Jude Clum-Stockton (second team), Fernando Lopez-Vega Lopez (second team), Kevin Serrano (third team) and William Miranda Ortiz (third team).

McAllister, Valencia and Marcks were also named to the first team along with first-team goalkeeper Niclas Isensee, the largest presence by a single school. McAllister was near the top of the league in several major categories, ranking second in goals (10), and third in assists (seven) and points (27).

Coupled with first team goalkeeper selection Niclas Isensee, Valencia was a member of a backline that proved to be one of the most formidable in the conference. Allowing only 14 goals during league play, Whitman averaged under one goal per game and Isenee surrendered only 0.78 goals per game.
