Whitman Athletics Honors Underclassmen Student-Athletes

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Whitman Athletics hosted its annual and newly named Blue & Bold Bash on Monday to honor the top performers from the first-year, sophomore and junior classes of the 2024-25 academic year.
 
The awards ceremony, the 10th annual gathering that brings together the student-athletes from the Blues' 17 varsity sports, including the new recruiting classes that are joining each program for the 2025-26 academic year.
 
Players, coaches and athletic department administrators kicked the night off with a tremendous buffet and food truck both provide by Bon Appetit and lawn games were available for a festive atmosphere.

The event was supported by Whitman Athletics and emceed by Associate Athletics Director Al Reiser. Also addressing the student-athletes were Director of Athletics Kim Chandler, Provost Elisabeth Mermann-Jozwiak and President Sarah Bolton. 

Below is a list of the winners who were called up to receive their award.
 
First-Year Performers of the Year
Male sport - Kevin Serrano (soccer)
Female sport - Avery Riley (swimming)
 
Sophomore Performers of the Year
Male sport - Alexander Stage (tennis)
Female sport - Renn Novak (lacrosse)
 
Junior Performers of the Year 
Male sport (Bob Burgess Award) - Halen Otte (baseball)
Female sport (Jayne McCarthy Award) - Cindy Luo (basketball)
