Men's Closes Road Trip With Defeat of Cal Lutheran

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Whitman College men's soccer team clinched a dramatic 2-1 victory over Cal Lutheran on Sunday at Stewart Field in the team's final regular season non-conference contest.

The win caps an undefeated run through non-conference play for the Blues (1-0-3) who saw late game heroics result in a win for the first time this season.

Whitman wasted no time in finding the back of the net for the game's first goal. Jude Clum-Stockton found Lucas McAllister in the third minute who scored past CalLu keeper Anthony Sound, setting the tone for a tightly contested encounter.

The Kingsmen managed to equalize during the match, applying pressure and creating chances as both teams battled for control. However, with the score knotted at 1-1 late in the game, Sarev Patel emerged as the hero for Whitman and slotted home the game-winner in the 85th minute, sealing the result in favor of the Blues.

Niclas Isensee was solid in net for the Blues, playing a full 90 minutes and posting five saves.

The win marks an important close to non-conference play for Whitman, giving them momentum as they head into the heart of its season. McAllister's opening strike and Patel's late dramatics highlighted an excellent team effort in a hard-fought contest.

The Blues have nearly two weeks off before beginning Northwest Conference play on Saturday, Sept. 20 against Pacific. Kickoff at James Hayner Field is set for 2:45 p.m.
