Whitman Women's Soccer Earns Scoreless Draw at Linfield Behind Five-Save Shutout
McMINNVILLE, Ore. – The Whitman women's soccer team withstood a barrage of Linfield chances and walked away with a tie, playing the Wildcats to a 0-0 draw on Sunday afternoon at Linfield Soccer Field.
The Blues are 7-4-3 overall and 6-3-1 in Northwest Conference play. Linfield is 7-5-2 and 5-4-1 in the league.
Pasena-Littlesky Stands Tall
Goalkeeper Lindsey Pasena-Littlesky played all 90 minutes and made five saves, one for each Linfield shot on target. Four of them came in a first half in which the Wildcats took 10 shots.
Linfield finished with a 15-3 shot advantage and a 5-1 edge in corner kicks. The Blues kept the Wildcats off the scoreboard on a day when the hosts controlled much of the possession.
A Steadier Second Half
Whitman tightened up after the break. Linfield managed five shots in the second half, half as many as in the first, and only one of them, France's late effort, was on target.
The Blues also gave up fewer fouls (7 to Linfield's 10), and neither side was shown a card.
Blues Push for a Late Winner
Whitman's best looks came from Avery Cohen and Leah Barnes. Cohen put a shot on frame in the 75th minute, and Barnes tested Linfield keeper Tati Zahajko with a save-forcing effort in the 90th minute, right after a Whitman corner kick. Zahajko finished with two saves.
The Blues will be back at James Hayner Field on Wednesday evening as they host the Whitworth University Pirates.
