Men's Soccer Earns Result Against Paciifc

FOREST GROVE, Ore. — The Whitman College men's soccer team settled for a 2-2 Northwest Conference draw against Pacific University on Sunday afternoon at Hanson Stadium.
The Blues moved to 5-1-2 overall and 3-0-1 in conference play after Pacific scored a second-half equalizer to erase Whitman's one-goal advantage.

Kevin Serrano opened the scoring in the 11th minute, converting an assist from Aiden Guenther for his fourth goal of the season. Pacific answered in the 35th minute, when Elliott Morgan finished a pass from Logan McBride to send the match into halftime tied 1-1.

Remy Marcks, making his return to the Whitman lineup, put the Blues back in front early in the second half. Marcks scored unassisted in the 49th minute for his first goal of the season and later led Whitman with five shots, including four on target.

Pacific drew level in the 69th minute as Afsheen Alijani scored off an assist from Parker Levine Scheidegger. Whitman continued to press late, generating four corner kicks in the second half and holding Pacific without a shot after the equalizer, but the Blues could not find a go-ahead goal.

Whitman controlled much of the match, outshooting the Boxers 15-6 and placing 10 shots on goal. Pacific goalkeeper Kieran Buell made seven saves, with an additional team save in the 88th minute denying a Marcks attempt. Whitman held a 66-34 advantage in possession.

Niclas Isensee played all 90 minutes in goal for the Blues and made three saves. He also stopped Giovanny Adaya-Ortiz's penalty kick in the 32nd minute, preserving Whitman's 1-0 lead at the time.

Whitman continues conference play at home this weekend with matches against Willamette and George Fox.
