Neal Christopherson has been working at Whitman since 2000, and on the cross country staff since cross country team since 2001. He was also the interim head coach in 2003 and 2004. At Whitman, he is also the Director of Institutional Research at Whitman, and affiliated with the Sociology department.
Chrisopherson holds a B.A. in Philosophy from Wheaton College (IL). and an M.A. and Ph.D in Sociology from the University of Notre Dame.
At Wheaton, he was an all-conference cross country runner and qualified for the NCAA Division III nationals meet as an individual. as well as serving as team co-captain his senior year.
After college he ran several marathons and half-marathons. the last in 2009.
