John
Blackmon, originally from Cleveland, Ohio, is a 1979 graduate from Whitman College. He currently resides in Las Vegas where he is the o
wner and broker of NV Capital Corporation LLC and owner and broker of Blackmon Home Loans, both State Licensed Mortgage Companies for Nevada Real Estate, Commercial and Residential.
After Blackmon completed his undergraduate work at Whitman, he went on to earn his
MBA from the University of Washington in 1981, and later, a graduate degree in commercial banking from the Pacific Coast Banking School in 1987.
Blackmon took advantage of everything Whitman had to offer. He lettered for the baseball team while engaging in intramural sports and even oversaw the entire intramural program his senior year. In addition he broadcasted Whitman basketball games and was a member of the College Athletic Committee. After Whitman, he was the Anchorage, Alaska
Alumni Admissions Representative from 1981-87, Class Representative to the Alumni Fund for 20 years, member of the Alumni Board at Whitman for seven years and a member of the Board of Overseers four years.
His favorite memories are playing for the Blues baseball team, his many favorite professors and administrators, fraternity life, and intramurals.
Blackmon is married to the former Susan Shoemaker and has six children and five grandchildren. Hobbies are golf, live sporting events and cruise ship vacations.
