Stephen began as the Assistant Director of Event Management and Sport Communication in October of 2017.
Stephen brings a variety of experiences to the job, where he oversees the staffing and management of home athletic contests, is responsible for the home web streaming, and also does work for the department in some internal operations and work within the facilities.Â
Stephen came to Walla Walla from Boise, Idaho where he was with the Boise Hawks, the Short Season 'A' affiliate of the Colorado Rockies for four years.
While there, he moved his way up through the organization, earning a yearly promotion before he left as the Group Sales Manager, overseeing group ticket sales for the Hawks. During his time, he was the top performing ticket sales executive, finishing as the highest grossing ticket sales representative each of his three seasons spent in a full time sales capacity in both season ticket and group ticket sales.Â
Stephen has spent quite a bit of time in the Pacific Northwest as well, as he spent four seasons in Bend, Oregon working for the Bend Elks, a wood-bat summer collegiate team in the West Coast League. Employed with the Elks from 2010-2013, the team led the West Coast League in attendance from all four seasons. During his time with the Elks, Stephen was responsible for Media Relations, Baseball Operations, and was the play-by-play broadcaster for three seasons with the Elks, and performed all responsibilities for the organization of the Assistant General Manager for his last two years with the team.Â
Stephen earned his Master's Degree at Florida State University in the summer of 2014, where he worked in the Sports Information Office, gaining experience working football, basketball, softball, golf, and tennis.Â
Prior to his time in Bend, Stephen obtained his bachelor's degree in Sport Management from Washington State University in 2012. While at WSU, Stephen spent his first two years as a student equipment manager for the Washington State Baseball team, who while there, made its first two NCAA Championship tournament appearances since 1990.Â
During his last two years at WSU, Stephen transitioned to working in several areas of the athletics department. He earned experience working event management, athletic communications, and also did broadcast work for KUGR, the student-run radio station, as well as wsucougars.com, serving as one of the voices for volleyball, basketball, and baseball for online webcasts of games.Â
Originally from Carson City, Nevada, Stephen can be found in his down time watching sports, traveling, and likes to bowl and golf.
