WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- NAIA powerhouse Lewis-Clark State ran its early
record to 10-0 with a 3-0 victory (25-8, 25-13, 25-14) over a young
Whitman College women's volleyball team Friday evening at the Whitworth
Invitational.
Whitman, 0-3 to start its season, plays two more matches Saturday, facing Menlo at 10 a.m. and host Whitworth at 4 p.m.
Breanne Robirds, a junior outside hitter, led the Whitman effort
against LCSC with eight kills and 12 digs. Sophomore libero Kelsie
Butts had a team-high 18 digs while first-year setter Krystin Norman
distributed 14 assists.
Katie Miller, another of Whitman's first-year players, added nine
digs. Junior Alex Graves combined six kills with seven digs.Â
LCSC, ranked No. 16th nationally in the NAIA, returns much of its
roster from a year ago, when the Warriors won the Frontier Conference
title and advanced to the NAIA national tourney as the No. 9 seed.
Against Whitman, LCSC sent a total of 14 players onto the floor.
Nine of those Warriors had at least one kill in the match.Â
