9/5/2008 5:00:00 PM

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- NAIA powerhouse Lewis-Clark State ran its early record to 10-0 with a 3-0 victory (25-8, 25-13, 25-14) over a young Whitman College women's volleyball team Friday evening at the Whitworth Invitational.

Whitman, 0-3 to start its season, plays two more matches Saturday, facing Menlo at 10 a.m. and host Whitworth at 4 p.m.

Breanne Robirds, a junior outside hitter, led the Whitman effort against LCSC with eight kills and 12 digs. Sophomore libero Kelsie Butts had a team-high 18 digs while first-year setter Krystin Norman distributed 14 assists.

Katie Miller, another of Whitman's first-year players, added nine digs. Junior Alex Graves combined six kills with seven digs.

LCSC, ranked No. 16th nationally in the NAIA, returns much of its roster from a year ago, when the Warriors won the Frontier Conference title and advanced to the NAIA national tourney as the No. 9 seed.

Against Whitman, LCSC sent a total of 14 players onto the floor. Nine of those Warriors had at least one kill in the match.
