TACOMA, Wash. –
Peter Stephens scored for the second straight game, converting on a penalty kick late in regulation to help the Whitman College men's soccer team to a 2-2 overtime draw at Pacific Lutheran in Northwest Conference action Sunday at East Field.
PLU (12-4-1, 8-2-1 NWC) back Joe Sammartino committed a foul in the box in the 86
th minute and earned a yellow card in the process. Stephens scored his spot kick to send the match into an extra time session for the second straight game.
The Lutes struck first with a goal midway through the first half. Sammartino fed Rainier Schlekewey who finished past Blues (7-6-2, 6-3-2 NWC) keeper
Owen Davis-Bower. Whitman responded with the equalizer when
Oscar Harding scored just minutes before halftime to send the teams to the locker room even at 1-1.
PLU regained the lead in the 61

With Pacific Lutheran playing a man down, the Blues were able to take advantage and get the game into overtime with Stephens' equalizer but could not do the same through the 20 minutes of overtime and again settled for a draw.
Davis-Bower posted a pair of saves with PLU keeper RJ Noll recording five.
The match was the road finale for the Blues who close the season with three straight home games beginning with George Fox on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 2:30 p.m.
