Men's Soccer Blanked By UT Dallas, 1-0

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Whitman College men's soccer team closed its opening weekend with a second loss, falling to the University of Texas-Dallas 1-0 in a neutral site match on Sunday at Stewart Field.

Jovi Munoz's goal in the 74th minute provided all the offense the Comets (2-0) would need to send the Blues to an 0-2 start. He followed up a Jackson Huckaby strike and slotted the rebound into the left netting.

Owen Davis-Bower posted four saves in 90 minutes of action for the Blues. Whitman was active in the attacking third of the field with 13 shots, five saved by UT Dallas keeper John Nicknish who posted the shutout for the Comets. Oscar Harding had several chances of his own with four shots to lead Whitman.

Jesse Ardila had three shots to lead the Comets who had nine shots total as a team.

Whitman returns to action on Friday, Sept. 8 with a visit to Northwest University. Kickoff is set for 11:00 a.m. PT.
