McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Coming off its first win of the season, the Whitman College women's soccer team hoped to continue the momentum from a week ago but fell short, falling 5-0 at Linfield College in Northwest Conference play on Saturday.

The loss drops the Blues to 1-7-1 overall and 1-4 in the Northwest Conference. The Wildcats improve to 5-2-2 and 2-1-2 in league play.

The stats described a dominant Linfield performance who led 3-0 at halftime. Michayla Sponsel got the Wildcats on the scoreboard with a goal in the 20
th minute assisted by Kristen Burke. Sydney Kuehn added two goals of her own before halftime, scoring on a header in the 34
th minute and adding her second less than 10 minutes later on a tap in from Burke who recorded her second assist of the afternoon.

Linfield added two more early in the second half to put the game away.

The Blues had only a handful of chances on goal with
Sophie Brussell,
Jordan O'Roy and
Allie Seracuse each posting a shot on goal.
Elly Wolfe made five saves in net for Whitman with Wildcat keeper Madi Reimer recording three saves in her shutout.

The Blues are next in action on Sunday at Willamette. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m.
