WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Fall season has come to a close for the Whitman College men's and women's tennis teams, but a quartet of individuals will be traveling east to compete against the nation's best at the ITA Cup held Oct. 17-20 at the Rome Tennis Center in Georgia.

As doubles champions at their respective ITA Division III Northwest Fall Regional Championships, the men's pair of Daniel Foster and Ben Kirsh along with the women's tandem of Andei Fukushige and Andrea Gu will represent not only Whitman but the entire Division III northwest region when they take the court later this week. Fukushige will be ever-present at the Cup, having won the singles title as well.

Foster and Kirsh open play in the 16-team doubles field against Alexander Angradi and Ian Siew of Salisbury. Fukushige and Gu will face Madeline Prins and Faith Yim of Carleton College. Fukushige will also take on Vassar's Miriam Gandham in first round singles.

The event brings together the finest players from NCAA Divisions II and III along with NAIA and JUCO competitors. When play is complete in Rome, 18 champions will be crowned in both singles and doubles play. The eight singles champions and two doubles winners will receive a wild card entry into the ITA Oracle National Fall Championships where they will compete against the upper level Division I winners in Arizona this Nov. 6-10.
