Men's Tennis Takes Down George Fox In Spring Home Opener

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The No. 19 Whitman men's tennis team kept it rolling with its third straight win, topping George Fox to remain atop the Northwest Conference standings with an 8-1 win over the Bruins Saturday at the Bratton Indoor Tennis Center.

Whitman (6-4, 3-0 NWC) took a close 2-1 match after doubles play and ran away with the victory with a clean sweep in singles. The Blues went up by two points after wins on the No. 2 and No. 3 double courts. Andreas Mueller-Immergluck and Alex Hwang topped Luke Lemaitre and Alex Namba 8-5 at the two with Adam Rapoport and Rajul Chikkalingaiah winning their three doubles match 8-4 over the Bruin pair of Payton Namba and Justin Barton.

George Fox (3-4, 2-1 NWC) would stay in the match with a win to close double play. On the No. 1 court, Keaten Baker and Will Leach took down the the Whitman tandem of Ben Kirsh and Daniel Foster 8-4.

The Blues would have little trouble with the Bruins in singles, winning all via sweeps outside of the No. 2 court match. Foster rallied from a set down to top Lemaitre 0-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-8).

Whitman retakes the court on Sunday for more Northwest Conference action, hosting Lewis & Clark at 9:00 a.m. at the Bratton Indoor Tennis Center.
