Men's Tennis Takes Two On Final Day of Regular Season

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Whitman College men's tennis team closed the regular season with 9-0 wins vs. Lewis-Clark State and at Whitworth on Saturday. With the two wins, the Blues even their overall record at 10-10 and close out another perfect Northwest Conference season at 8-0.

In a split squad setup, the Blues sent members of their team to Spokane for their final league match and kept another group home to square off against Lewis-Clark State.

Against Whitworth, the Blues took care of business with a doubles sweep, winning at the three then the two to ensure themselves of the lead heading to doubles play.

Derek Simonsen clinched the match on the No. 3 court, topping Whitworth's Ben Bethards 6-0, 6-1.

Back at the Whitman Outdoor Tennis Courts, Whitman was equally dominant. The Blues swept doubles play but saw stiff competition on the No. 2 court. The pair of Daniel Foster and Ben Kirsh topped LCSC's William Bruchard and Alexandre D'Aboville 8-7 (7-3) to help their team to its third win.

Adam Rapoport handled Luca Menezes at third singles 6-2, 6-2 to clinch the victory.

The Blues now set their sights on the Northwest Conference Tournament which they will host at the Whitman Outdoor Courts next Saturday and Sunday.
