TACOMA, Wash. – The Whitman College women's soccer team opened Northwest Conference play seeking its first win, but would come up empty in a 2-0 loss at the University of Puget Sound on Saturday.
The loss drops the Blues to 0-4 and 0-1 in the Northwest Conference with the Loggers improving to 3-2 and 1-0 in league play.
UPS got both its goals in the first half in shutting out the Blues. Ava Cholakian put the Loggers up in the 22
nd minute with an unassisted goal. UPS scored its second with just over 10 minutes until halftime. Gabbie Berg played a quick pass inside the box to Rahika Webster Schultz who finished past
Bryanna Schreiber for the two-goal lead.
Schreiber would finish with five saves in net for the Blues with Logger keeper Chaylea Tome recording one save and earning the shutout victory.
Whitman remains in Tacoma and will face off with Pacific Lutheran on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
