Box Score WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Whitman College men's tennis team has been the dominant Northwest Conference force in recent years, and today was no different. The Blues cruised through doubles and swept all singles matches en route to a 9-0 league opening win at Whitworth on Saturday.

The doubles pairs of Ben Kirsh and Daniel Foster at the one, and Rajul Chikkalingaiah and Jacob Strabo at the two, both took down their Pirate counterparts 8-5 to assure the Blues of the lead through doubles play. Aidan Schutter and Aaron Yuan were put to the test at the three though but prevailed for an 8-7 win over Jake Bethards and Cameron Brewer.

The Blues clinched the match at first singles. After Foster blanked Ethan Violette on the No. 2 court 6-0, 6-0, Kirsh was almost equally as dominant in sealing the win with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Sean Singco.

Whitman continues defense of its NWC title on Sunday, playing its league home opener against Puget Sound at the Bratton Indoor Tennis Center. Start time is set for 10:00 a.m.
