Box Score WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Whitman College men's tennis team served up the season with a dominant performance, winning its season opener against Whitworth, 9-0, in Northwest Conference action on Saturday at the Bratton Indoor Tennis Center.
The Blues set the tone for the match with a clean sweep in doubles play. Bear Lee and John Carter gave the Blues their first point after blanking the Pirate tandem of Cameron Brewer and Nathan Tjelle, 8-0, at the two. Whitman assured itself of the lead heading to singles action with a win on the No. 3 court. The Blues duo of

Aidan Schutter took down Whitworth's Ethan Warring and Brenden Archer, 8-5.
The Blues secured the win after victories on the No. 4 and No. 3 courts. Bear Lee put the Blues on the verge of the win with his 6-0, 6-2 sweep of Archer at the four, then Jack Freer won 6-3, 7-5 for his second win against Kincaid Norris, this time at third singles, to clinch the win.
The most competitive match of the day saw Schutter rally from a set down at first singles. He topped Cameron Brewer 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 after the result had been decided.
The Blues return to action on Sunday, March 14 when they travel to Tacoma for a pair of NWC matches against Puget Sound.
