Blues Drop Both Games of A Doubleheader At Willamette

SALEM, Ore. - The Whitman College baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to Willamette, falling in the opener 12-8 and dropping the nightcap 11-9.

Game 1
The opener featured a slugfest with the Bearcats going up by seven runs through the first two innings. David Johnson and Ethan Sitzman both had monster games at the plate, each posting three hits, one run and one RBI.

Dexter Aichele (3-3) suffered the loss but was plagued by six Whitman errors leading to seven of his eight runs unearned. He tossed six complete innings in defeat.

Ben Parker had a hit, a run and three RBI including a two-run homerun in the ninth-inning rally that fell short.

Game 2
The nightcap saw a furious Whitman rally fall short as Willamette walked away with the sweep. The Blues trailed by nine runs before putting eight up on the scoreboard in the sixth inning. Garrett Runyan (2 H, 1 R, 3 RBI) delivered in the sixth inning alone, crushing a solo homer then later driving home a pair of runs with a base hit.

Mateus Conaway (2-3) suffered the loss in three and two-thirds innings of work despite only allowing two earned runs.

Ben Parker continued his hot hitting with three hits, one run and three RBI.

The Blues and Bearcats conclude their series with a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 12:00 p.m.
