Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Whitman College men's tennis team took the court for the first time this spring, playing split squad matches at Eastern Washington and Boise State. The Blues came up short to both Division I foes, falling 7-0 in both matches on Saturday.

Neither squad was able to grab a point in their matches, but opening day did see some competitive performances. In doubles against EWU, the doubles pair of Luca Viarengo and Jackson Wurzer gave the Eagles' No. 1 tandem of Erik Sarlvik and Caden Kammerer a good fight but eventually fell 6-3.

Against Boise, fifth and sixth singles had a shot of going to a third and deciding set, but ultimately ended up in sweeps. Noah Baker fell 6-2, 6-4 at the five to Michael Bott with Alejandro Raffo losing by the same score to Teague Burger at No. 6.

The Blues retake the court on Sunday, Jan. 29 vs. Idaho State at 12:00 p.m.
