BOISE, Idaho – The Blues nearly grabbed a doubles result and battled well in singles but eventually fell to Idaho State 7-0 in a neutral site match played Sunday on the Boise State campus.
The match concludes the opening weekend of spring play for the Blues (0-3).
ISU won all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Courts #1 and #2 easily went to the Bengals but the Blues pair of Harshvardhan Chopra and Alejandro Raffo nearly pulled out a victory at the three. They took ISU's JW Altman and Ethan Lye to a tiebreaker which ended in defeat 7-6 (8-6).
The Bengals won all six singles matches but Chopra again pushed his ISU opponent. On the No. 1 court, he dropped the first set but nearly pushed his match to a deciding third set before falling 6-3, 7-5. Diego Guzman had a strong performance at the two in a 6-4, 6-2 loss to Andreas Kramer.
The Blues are off for nearly three weeks before playing their home opener on Friday, Feb. 17 against Montana State. First matches are set for 2:00 p.m.
