SALEM, Ore. - The Whitman College men's soccer team rallied from a goal down in hopes of notching its second win of the weekend, but the Blues would have to settle for a 2-2 draw against Willamette in Northwest Conference action on Sunday at Sparks Field.
Bernie Jones for the Blues, and Ibrahm Garza for the Bearcats both recorded five saves while giving up the two goals. Jones dealt with 15 Willamette shots and Garza handled 13 Whitman shots.
Whitman (3-5-2, 3-2-1 NWC) trailed by a goal at halftime, but returned to the pitch and scored two goals to take the lead. The Blues earned a penalty kick in the 50th minute which Erick Perez-Cuellar took and scored to make the game level.
Sawyer Valero then put the Blues ahead with his goal in the 62nd minute. Lucas McAllister found Valero who finished past Garza for the 2-1 lead.
The lead was short-lived as Krisna LaFrance scored the equalizer for Willamette and the scoreline held for the remainder of the game.
The Blues begin a five-game home stand next weekend with matches against George Fox and Lewis & Clark.
