WALLA WALLA, Wash. -
Jude Clum-Stockton assisted on two goals by
Zachary Stonier, highlighting a 7-0 victory by the Whitman College men's soccer team over Lewis & Clark in Northwest Conference action on Saturday at Hayner Field.
The game was the most goals and largest margin of victory since George Fox in 2017, and largest of coach Jose Cendeno's tenure as head coach.Â
Christian Gomez got the Blues (5-5-2, 5-2-1 NWC) on the board early, scoring a goal in the 10th minute on an assist from Erick Perez-Cuellar. The Pioneers sat in for the most of the half allowing the Blues to dominate possession. The tactic worked until just before the end of the half when Whitman earned a penalty kick which Jossue Tobar converted to put the Blues up 2-0 at halftime.
The floodgates opened in the second half. Riki Kobayashi scored in the 51st minute and Fernando Lopez-Vega added another two minutes later.Â
Stonier and Clum-Stockton connected in the 76th minute on the first of their two goals. Lucas McAllister added Whitman's sixth goal before Clum-Stockton again found Stonier who ripped a shot inside the near post for the final goal of the game.
The Blues continue their homestand next weekend with matches against Puget Sound and Pacific Lutheran.
