Arrouye's Late Goal Earns Season Finale Draw Vs. George Fox

NEWBERG, Ore. - The Whitman College women's soccer team was staring down a loss to close the season, but Lise Arrouye's late equalizer helped the Blues to a 1-1 draw against George Fox in the team's Northwest Conference and season finale on Sunday.

"What a day and what a season," said coach Michelle Voiland. "I am so proud of this team. Once again, the group battled back to get the job done. Scoring that goal in the 88th minute today was awesome and that was the point; to secure our third place finish in the conference. Let the celebration begin!!"

Whitman's resilience was on display all season, and was just as evident today when Arrouye put home a goal in the 89th minute. Ella Johnson's service from the left flank resulted in a shot off the crossbar. Arrouye pounced on the loose ball, getting her foot on it and poking it past Bruin keeper Emily Robey.

George Fox had one last opportunity when they earned a free kick about 35 yards from goal. Hannah Hagler was equal to the task in the final minute, gobbling up a loose ball which glanced off the head of a Bruin attacker.

Hagler had a solid outing in net for Whitman, posting five saves and dealing with 13 George Fox shots.

Arrouye's goal was needed after George Fox struck first with a goal in the first half. Taylor Ho found Becca Kozak who scored in the 30th minute.
