WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Four players advanced in the A singles main draw and another four in the B singles main draw to highlight a solid opening day for the Whitman College men's tennis team at the ITA Fall Northwest Regional Championship.

The event is being hosted by Whitman at the Whitman Tennis Courts and Bratton Indoor Tennis Center.

The doubles main draw also got under with five Whitman doubles teams advancing to Saturday's round of 16.

Alejandro Raffo and Luca Viarengo were the most dominant in their two A draw singles victories. Neither lost a set en route to earning their Saturday round of 16 matchups.

Jackson Wurzer, Gunnar Woller and Hanri Luo all earned first round byes in the B draw and swept their opponents to also advance to Saturday's round of 16.

Whitman's top doubles teams of Noah Baker and Diego Guzman, and Harshvardhan Chopra and Lucas Huang looked sharp in their Day 1 victories and are joined by three other Blues teams for Saturday's round of 16.

All main draw singles matches will take place either at 8:00 a.m. or 9:30 a.m. on Saturday with the quarterfinals set for the afternoon.
