Women's Soccer Settles For 1-1 Draw At UPS

TACOMA, Wash. - In a tightly contested match, the Whitman College women's soccer team and the University of Puget Sound both scored a goal in the second half en route to a 1-1 draw in Northwest Conference action on Sunday afternoon.

"I am proud of the team for an excellent performance," said head coach Michelle Voiland. "We scored a fantastic goal and played a very fast and physical match. We will take the hard earned point on the road and are excited to start the second half of conference play."

Both teams had a similar number of scoring chances and each cashed in on one. The first came from Whitman who opened the scoring with a goal in the 58th minute. Emma Foley found Kiki Glorioso who beat Logger keeper Gianna Maldonado to put the Blues ahead.

The Blues were just over five minutes from handing UPS only its second conference loss, but an equalizer in the 85th minute leveled the score. Emma Pack and Kya Scott combined to find Zoe Fowler whose shot beat Seanee Still who played the second half in goal for the Blues.

Still and Lindsey Pasena-Littlesky, who started and played the first half, combined for two saves. Maldonado logged one save for the Loggers in her 90 minutes of action.

The Blues are on the road again next weekend with matches at George Fox and Pacific.
