WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Headlined by Korin Baker's game-high 20 points, the Whitman College women's basketball team showcased three players who scored 20 or more points and lifted the Blues to a resounding 74-51 win over La Verne to win the Kim Evanger Raney Memorial Classic on Sunday at the Sherwood Center.

Lindsey Drango nearly put up a double double with 20 points and nine rebounds for the Blues (5-0) who dominated the Leopards in the paint by a 44-20 advantage. Carly Martin added five three pointers as part of a 20-point, five assist performance.

Alyssa Smith led La Verne with 12 points and Christen Ziska added 10 more.

The result was never in doubt. Martin went on a three-point scoring barrage midway through the first quarter starting with her three ball with 5:03 to play. She nailed two more in the next 1:15 to cap a personal 9-0 run, then added another late as the Blues held La Verne scoreless for the final 4:32 of the quarter.

The second quarter saw the lead swell to 20 points after a Baker layup with 5:26 to play. Later in the quarter, Briana Andrade, Martin and Baker again all scored at the hoop to put Whitman up 42-20 and the lead went as high as 24 points in the quarter.

The second half proved to be elementary as the lead never slipped below 20 points.
