Men's Soccer Blanked At Willamette

SALEM, Ore. - After a resounding victory one day ago, the Whitman College men's soccer team was unable to keep the momentum going, falling 3-0 at Willamette in Northwest Conference action on Sunday afternoon.

The Bearcats (5-8-5, 5-4-4 NWC) netted all their goals in the first half. The opening one came in only game's sixth minute after Krisna LaFrance scored the first of his two goals on a tap in from inside the goal box.

Willamette scored its second in the 18th minute. Sean Kim, who assisted on LaFrance's first goal, served a ball to Ryan O'Grady's head who finished past Lucas Haigh in net for Whitman. LaFrance was Johnny on the spot a second time, scoring his team's third and final goal in the 34th minute, also on a tap in right in front of the goal.

Haigh posted three saves and Tait Whittemore came on at halftime and kept a clean second-half sheet. Evan Bierman posted five saves in recording the shutout for the Bearcats.

The Blues (10-6-2, 7-5-2 NWC) return home for their final two games. They take on Puget Sound on Saturday and Pacific Lutheran on Sunday for Senior Day. Both kickoffs are set for 11:00 a.m.
