LA VERNE, Calif. - The Whitman College women's soccer team completed a perfect road trip, topping La Verne University 1-0 on Saturday night at Ortmayer Stadium.
"Such a great win," said head coach Michelle Voiland. "I'm really happy with our growth from game to game and half to half. The team stepped up and played a phenomenal second half, showing grit and heart."
Leah Barnes' second goal of the season proved to be the game winner. Less than four minutes into the second half, Virginia Hunt found Barnes who scored past Abigail Macedo in net for La Verne.
Lindsey Pasena-Littlesky again kept a clean scoresheet for the Blues. She posted five saves, making that eight for the weekend while giving up nary a goal.
The Blues will play their home opener this Friday, Sept. 6 against Eastern Oregon. Kickoff at Hayner Field is set for 6:00 p.m.
