Women's Soccer Drops First Loss

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Whitman College women's soccer team fell from the ranks of the unbeaten, falling 2-0 to Eastern Oregon on Friday evening at Hayner Field.

The Blues gave up a goal in each half, the firsts of the season for Whitman (2-1) who posted shutouts in each of their two wins. It was also the first time Whitman was held scoreless this season.

The team played very well against an extremely athletic Eastern Oregon team," said Whitman coach Michelle Voiland. "I was happy with the energy and grit and thrilled we could get some additional players rotated into the game. Tough to lose and we will continue to learn and grow."

Peyton Jacaway opened the scoring with an unassisted goal inside of 10 minutes to play in the first half. The scoreline remained until the 71st minute when Darby McDevitt found Macy Reed who finished past Seanee Still in net for the Blues.

Despite being outshot 14-7, Whitman did have several scoring opportunities, but they fell by the wayside as the Blues never were able to score past Mountaineer keeper Rylee Schei.

For the Blues in goal, Still came on for Lindsey Pasena-Littlesky halftime as both posted two saves in 45 minutes of action.

Whitman closes out the non-conference portion of its schedule on Sunday, Sept. 15 hosting Corban (Ore.) at 11:00 a.m. at Hayner Field.
