NEWBERG, Ore. - A solid opening day continued as six different members of the Whitman College men's tennis team advanced on Day 2 to the semifinals of the ITA Fall Northwest Regional Championship on Saturday at the Multi-Use Facility.

Singles action saw both Lucas Huang and Cameron Yang each win twice and now square off against each other in one of the semifinal matches. Huang twice rallied from a set down in topping a pair of George Fox foes. Yang cruised in his two victories, winning both in straight sets first against Linfield then over Lewis & Clark in the quarterfinals.

The doubles competition will see Whitman teams compete in both semifinal matches. The pair of Alexander Stage and Noah Baker easily won their round of 16 match but battled to an 8-7 (5) win in the quarterfinals over Pacific. On the other side of the bracket, the tandem of Charles Rush and Diego Guzman comfortably won twice over Pacific and Linfield.

Whitman will play for all the marbles when championship day gets underway on Sunday morning.
