Women's Soccer Edged At Whitworth, 1-0

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Whitman College women's soccer team fell from the ranks of the Northwest Conference's unbeaten teams, dropping a 1-0 result at Whitworth on Wednesday night at Whitworth Soccer Field.

Lighting in the area postponed the start of the second half which put the match in jeopardy of not finishing due to darkness. Play resumed but in the 74th minute and, unfortunately for the Blues, the game was indeed called due to darkness. With the minimum 70 minutes played to make the game official, the result went into the books as a 1-0 Whitworth win.

The lone goal came in the 10th minute with neither team able to find the back of the net in the following 80-plus minutes. Mac Lembke delivered a long pass to Claire Nguyen who split a pair of Whitman defenders and scored past Lindsey Pasena-Littlesky in goal for the Blues (4-2-1, 1-1-1 NWC).

Pasena-Littlesky posted two saves for Whitman and Seanee Still, inserted at halftime, made three saves in a scoreless 45 minutes. Paige Broadrick made a pair of saves for Whitworth (4-1-1, 2-0-1 NWC) in recording the shutout.

The Bucs had the lionshare of the shots with a 9-4 advantage.

The Blues now visit Linfield this Saturday, Sept. 28 at 2:45 p.m.
