Women's Soccer Edged On Late Goal From Linfield

McMINNVILLE, Ore. - The Whitman College women's soccer team nearly played Linfield to a scoreless draw, but the Wildcats scored in the 88th minute and walked away with a 1-0 win on Saturday in Northwest Conference action on Saturday at the Linfield Soccer Complex.

"The team played incredibly hard," said Whitman coach Michelle Voiland. "Unfortunately, we could not convert our scoring chances. We will regroup and look forward to our home games next weekend."

The Blues (4-3-1, 1-2-1 NWC) created 10 shots with four turned away by Wildcat keeper Alexa Fritz. Lindsey Pasena-Littlesky started and played the first half in net for the Blues and Seanee Still came on for a full second half of action. Both recorded one save but dealt with a combined 12 Linfield shots.

The game seemed destined for a goalless draw with both teams walking away with a point, but everything changed just minutes before the final horn. Riley Omonaka and Marley Ells combined to find Jocelyn Jacobs who finished past Still in the 88th minute.

The Blues return home next weekend to face Willamette on Saturday, Oct. 5 and Lewis & Clark on Sunday, Oct. 6. Both start times are set for 2:45 p.m.
