Harrington, McManus Shine In Regular Season Finale

McMINNVILLE, Ore. - In their final competition ahead of the Northwest Conference Championship, the Whitman College cross country teams faced the field at the George Oja Invitational on Saturday morning, competing with dozens of teams from all levels of collegiate competition.

Ella Harrington and Payton Davies paced the women's contingent in the 6K. Both running personal bests, Harrington delivered an excellent performance in placing 35th (21.57.0) in a field of over 350 runners. She picked up the pace in the final two splits, running her best in the final 1000 meter (3:27.8).

Davies cracked the top 100 in finishing 88th. She ran the race in 22.57.0 which was a personal best for her as well.

Jack McManus spearheaded the Blues men's squad in the 8K with a 32nd-place finish in a competitive field of nearly 400 runners. McManus ran a personal best of 24:43.60, finishing the race with a split time of six seconds faster than the split time prior.

Jack Rousseau and Danny Steinberg had solid showings as well. They finished 78th (25:18.50) and 86th (25:26.10), respectively.

The postseason begins in two weeks time as all NWC schools converge in Tacoma for the NWC Championship held on Saturday, Nov. 1.
