Cross Country Faces The Field At The Whitman Open, Harrington Places Fourth

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Whitman College cross country teams turned in competitive performances at The Whitman Open hosted at Veterans Memorial Golf Course. 

The women's squad claimed fifth place overall, while the men's side secured a strong fourth-place finish in a field packed with regional talent including a handful of Division I squads.

Ella Harrington delivered a standout effort for the Blues, clocking a personal-best 22:15.13 to take fourth place individually. Her remarkable finish led Whitman's scoring contingent and helped anchor the team's solid placement in the standings. Harrington turned it on late, running 20 seconds faster in the final 2K split.

Payton Davies wrapped up the top 20 for the Blues with a 17th-place finish (23:59.92).

Jack McManus paced the Blues in the men's 8K race, finishing 17th with a time of 25:15.65 against a competitive field also made of a handful of Division I schools. He turned it on late as well with a 6:23.45 final 2K split time.

The Blues continue the season in two weeks time at the Linfield Harrier Classic on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 11:00 a.m.
